weight check...and then some!

Bostyn had a follow up doctor appt today with our regular pediatrician. The good news is that she has gained 2 pounds! She's up to 20.4 lbs. I think that's due to the sausage!! woohoo! The bad news is that it was time for her hepatitis A vaccination and I was really hoping she wouldn't have to get poked with a needle again. About 45 min after we left the office she started scratching like crazy and developing hives. I gave her benadryl and called the doc. Of course they were out to lunch and the answering service asked if they could just take a message. When I impatiently asked if there was a doctor on call I could talk to about the ingredients of the hep A vaccination she asked me if this was "some kind of dyer emergency." When I said "Yes, actually, it is a matter of life or death if there was something my child is deathly allergic to in it" she patched me thru to my pediatrician. She assured me there is no egg in the vaccination. But I'm still wondering what else may have been in it. To make a long story short, since she didn't have any breathing issues, she's on benadryl for the next 24 hours and a nurse has been calling to check on her. This will also be noted in her file and she won't be getting the last of the hep. A vaccination. Her hives are still there, but she doesn't seem to be bothered by them. Hopefully she'll be all clear tomorrow :/.

  1. Hi Nikki,

How is Bostyn doing now with her reaction to the vaccine? Also, can she tolerate seafood of any type?

  2. Does anyone know if this blog has the feature to notify a person when a post has been made by anyone? If so, please let me know what I need to do.
    Thanks, Diane

  4. Hi Everyone,
Just talked to Gina and am trying to figure this out. Love this Blog stuff if I can get it it will be fun. So happy to hear that you are getting some answers for Bostyn. I think about you all and everything you have been through. If this doesnt make you strong nothing will. WOW. Gina just told me Bostyn was sick today so sorry. Maybe we should get Bostyn and Jessi and lock them up together in the same room and not let thenm out till they are good to go.. Greg left for China on Saturday morn for 11 days (rite on) and Mel was at her dads so I was an empty nester til 8 am Sunday morn. When I heard the lock on the front door then in comes Jessi saying she doesnt feel good and crawled into my bed. It is Wednesday and Jessi is still in my bed and is sleeping about 20 hours a day because she has strep throat and tonsilitis so bad she has to take nausea medicine to keep the antiboidic down so all she can do is sleep. I have had to bunk with Melanie and the dog. I was looking foprward to 11 days of just cruising, having the whole bed to myself, not cooking, not grocery shopping with Greg being gone. So far I have done more laundry, cooking, and shopping, and prescription buying than ever before. Whats up with that. Oh well I would'nt have it any other way. Can't wait too see you all in July.
    Hope this post works.
    Love to you all,
    Karen

  5. Thank you guys so much for your comments! I can't figure out how to respond to them individually. I'm pretty computer illiterate!! To answer your question aunt diane...the doc was supposed to test her for shellfish and forgot, but he did test her for some fish (they have to do each one individually) she was allergic to some and could tolerate some so we've been just playing it safe and not giving her any! Aunt Karen...so sorry to hear you didn't get to veg out and enjoy 11 days alone!! What a bummer! Hope Jessi is feeling better! And I promise to update the blog more for you Grandma! Cant wait to see you all in July!! Love you guys!
